We are all Benchists, to one degree or another. Whether that be as a user of benches, an owner of benches, an admirer of benches, a creator of benches, or someone involved in the artistic sub-genre of Benchism (as a painter, installation artist, sculptor, photographer, musician, film-maker, performer, etc.).

By and large, each and everyone one of us has a connection to benches - although 98% of us don't even acknowledge that connection.

Urban and suburban areas abound with benches that we use without giving a second thought; in the park, at the bus stop, on the railway platform, they are everywhere. Even the remotest tribes people of Africa & South America have benches in their community, perhaps not constructed in the fashion we are accustomed to in the developed world, but benches nonetheless.
