As some of you
know a proposed publication Readers' Benches is already
in the early stages of production, with several studio and
'al fresco' shoots arranged for the summer.
Although a publisher has yet to 'come on board', Felix Dennis
has hinted at setting up a whole new imprint for the genre,
his people are conducting market research and a feasibility
study.
Surprisingly Richard Desmond is playing hard-to-get,
seeking reassurances regarding issues of 'taste'!
It has been said that pitching Dennis against Desmond
was an act of genius by the Benchism committee, only time
will tell.
As yet no word back from Emap or IPC, it is speculated
(though without foundation) that they may go head-to-head
with their own titles in the genre, without the involvement,
or blessing, of the Benchism governing body.
In any event, we're hopeful that the first edition of the
magazine will be available in time for International
Bench Day (6th September 2007).
